Problems after Win 8 preview

Post by DrTeeth »

I tried Win 8 Preview on my laptop last night, didn't like it so
deleted it. This morning, my laptop keeps on trying to boot from the
network. The boot order is correct in the bios and if I bring up the
boot menu (F12) and select HDD it *still* tries to boot from the
network. I have tried reinstalling BIBM, but it does not 'take'.
I have tried to restore one of my OSs (Win 7) - and elected to have a
standard MBR written and to make the partition active. Booting after
that, produced an error about not being able to boot/find the OS.

I'm stuck for ideas - how do I progress?

Thanks

Further info. Looking at the MBR in maintenance mode shows *every*
value as zero. All partitions seem to be present and correct. Luckily,
I have a complete backup from yesterday (all OSs backed up
separately).

BIG WOOP!

Managed to fix it myself and it was so much easier than I expected.
All I did was boot from a BIBM disc and view the MBR. I then inserted
the Win 7 partition and think I made it active. I rebooted the PC and
it booted (yay) into BIBM which was fully functional.
