No. Understand that what we are talking about here is removing the partitions from the MBR in the boot item that you should have created for XP and which should be controlling the environment when you are inistalling, but, as previously mentioned, I don't think you can even do this unless you have primaries NOT limited. In that case, you can hide the partitions that don't need to be available during installation. This is not as guaranteed to keep the partitions from being involved in the installation, but is, I think, the best choice available if primaries are not limited.

After playing with this all day I think I have made some progress. The BSOD I was getting lead me to the possibility of a hardware problem, namely no access to the boot device. After searching for an hour I came across a group of people having the same problem all on laptop computers. An IT engineer instructed everyone to go into the BIOS and change the SATA setting to IDE Mode. After doing this I was able to continue the install. I am now at the window where it says "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt hal.dll Seems I saw that in the tutorial so I'm headed back to that part of the video for what is supposed to happen next.
PS I also discovered another problem that may be an issue with this dual boot unless Bootit has a way of dealing with it automatically. I read that on an XP/Win 7 dual boot configuration, every time you start XP it wipes out all the Win 7 Restore Points. That's not good.

True, but only IF you put any value in MS's Restore feature....I sure don't.
Instead I use ERU/NT and TB's Image software.
fwiw..... http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/

Key to avoiding it IF such is of value to you, is to set each OS in BIBM so that the other OS is hidden, and vise versa.
Page 31 in the manual, also see page 29.

On http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/howto/ The text for Installing XP in
it's own primary partition directs you to the last item on that same page on
how to add AHCI drivers. Also, there is an item that talks about loosing
restore points when multi-booting with Windows XP (it mentions vista, but
applies to W7 as well).

Thanks all for the help and suggestions. I got it done. The only thing left to say is don't buy a Toshiba laptop if you plan on installing XP, they provide no drivers for XP so you have to figure out what devices are installed and then go to the original makers for drivers. In XP Nvidia does not even recognize their own adapter being installed, so forget them too. I hope Bill Gates rots in hell!

I highly recommend getting all essential drivers for laptops
from ANY manufacturer when the computer is new
and save them where you can access if necessary.

My Acer has Intel wireless and Win 7 does not have drivers
for a start. I decided to use my 3rd computer on Win 7's
Family Pack and ditch the mfgrs version of Win 7.

I had already downloaded several drivers so was safe.

Reminds me of the trouble I had getting XP on my new(ish) laptop. I
would get a BSOD on install with the disc set as IDE or SATA, using a
non-slipstreamed install disc. I had a slipstreamed disc with Intel 5
chipset drivers on it. I managed to install in the end by slipping the
correct drivers for the laptop. The BSOD on the IDE setting was a red
herring and a half, being totally unexpected.
