simple operations backup is normally the only thing that will show in simple operations restore.
traditional mode backups need to use traditional mode for restore.
single partition restore wouldn't offer scale-to-fit, it would have a resize field.
multi-partition restore to a drive with partitions would not allow resize, it would go back to where it was from.
full drive (or multi-partition restore to a blank drive) has the scale-to-fit option.
If you can't get past the destination, then there is no chance of fitting. The selection of what to restore will show if it's partial or not.
Ok so If I use traditional mode to do the backup and I choose Full, then when performing a restore I need to also use traditional restore (SO turned OFF). Correct? I could have sworn I did that but when it was time to do the restore onto the second laptop, it told me there wasn't enough space, hence my reason for posting in the first place. Maybe I didn't.
But you're saying you can't mix and match. If you backup using SO, you have to restore using SO. Same with using Traditional Mode.
Correct?
yes, and ensure you do an entire drive backup, not just partitions (tick the box next to the drive) (simple operations only does entire drive backups).

where do you see that?
Sorry, my mistake.. Not Full/Normal, when you turn off SO and choose Restore, the next screen says Automatic and Normal. What is the difference between the two? Choosing each one and clicking Next, the screens look the same, when selecting where the backup is located.

One attempts to automatically choose the target and set options. Normal means you choose the target and set options.
OK thank you!. I'll try to keep all of this in mind
