Hi,

FYI, I had posted on the Lenovo forum asking about this problem and someone who looks like they work for Lenovo just posted that the output to the external monitor functionality is only on some models of laptops and he doesn't think the Legion is one of theose.

And also if I set like a 5 second timeout in BIU, then the laptop should boot normally except for an additional 5 seconds?

As I said, my greatest fear is bricking the laptop and/or ending up with a black screen that is frozen.
Since you already booted the BIU UFD and BootIt came up on the display (and I assume the keyboard worked), it should be the same when installed. Using a timeout to boot Windows is probably the only way to work around the issue.

Depending on how the system handles the display, BIU may not show on the screen if it gets stuck there (doesn't auto-boot into the Windows boot item, for example) if it was closed and then you open it (some systems don't handle display changes after booting very well). However, you should be able to simply reset/reboot the laptop with the display open to continue (restarting/resetting while in the BIU menu isn't a problem).

I would recommend testing how BIU and Windows boot up with the display open so you know how it goes and how long it normally takes. Then you could try with the display closed.

Hi,

Ok thanks.

I just tested with the BIU timeout set to 5 secs.

None of the POST or BIU output appears on the external monitor (as suspected), but/and looking at the external monitor only, it booted into Windows 11, but maybe a bit slower.

During testing I accidentally hit a key on my external keyboard and had black screen but I checked the laptop display and it showed the BIU GUI.

So I just have to be careful and let it boot to Windows completely.

So I think that is ok, probably as good as I can get and will have to move the laptop to where I can get to the laptop display and keyboard whenever I do anything with BIU.

Thanks for your help!!!
