PartWork for Windows Feature Request (Solved)

Post by Friendly »

If it's possible to implement option to temporarily hide drives/partitions from windows.

This is very useful when installing fresh OS while you have other drives connected as well.

Sometimes during fresh install, windows will decide to place either recovery partition, or boot loader onto other partitions/drives, and instead of disconnecting cables if you on SATA or even worse when you have NVMe's, you can hide the other drives from windows and afterwords unhide them.

Thank you

Friendly,

You can do this in BIU to hide partitions prior to a Windows OS install. See page 61 in the BIU manual. This is similar to what you did in BIBM.

This involves "If the path is unknown you can enter an invalid name now and edit it after the OS has been installed" and doing a "simulated boot".

If you don't have BIU you can still use the BIU method of hiding partitions. Change the Partition Type from Normal Data to BootIt Hidden.

In PartWork for Windows, select the partition
Properties
File System
Change Normal Data to BootIt Hidden

Thank you very much for the info.

I just tried with windows PartWork and it works great.

Would you know by chance what is the difference between the method of hiding e.g. the one I used from the one you mentioned, does one have any benefit over the other :?:

Thank you.
