and I felt like since the OS should have every sector copied.
Even with the OS, you only need sectors containing data.

Jim, I'm interested to know why your ESP contains so much data. Can you do this...

BIU, Scripting
CD ..
DIR

You should be in C:\EFI

Hi Brian,

I will do that, in a bit. I am running a validation on the backup image.

BTW, FYI, I let the backup run and went to bed and when I just woke up now (we are east coast US), the display screen was black. My setup has this VOSTRO connected to a monitor via a KVM with 3 machines on the KVM. Is there some setting in BIU that has it shutdown the display if the machine is idle, like a screensaver or powersave?

I had to go to the physical laptop and flip the laptop cover open to get the monitor to show stuff.

Thanks,
Jim

Brian (and Terabyte Support),

Here it is:

It looks like the Boot directory has duplicates of 3 of almost the same files as in the BootIt directory, except the Boot directory has a large BootX64.000 file.

Did TBI change BootX64.000 to BootIt.efi in BIU 1.44 or something like that?

And maybe, I can just delete the Boot directory?

you don't need all those dell entries - are multiple boot items showing up? What did you do on those days if you can recall that additional dell entries created (the system bios or some software must have created a new \efi\dell directory).

I'm not sure what I was doing on those days - possibly I was visiting the Dell support site with the Vostro ...

I found this on the Dell forum: https://www.dell.com/community/en/conve ... a8de0afac5

That is about desktops, so I posted a question in the laptops area to ask what causes those directories and also can I delete the older directories.

P.S. Restoring the TBI image is giving me a chance to try a new NVME dock:

Terabyte Support,

I forgot to answer one of your questions... no I only see one boot item in BIU.

Thanks Jim.

C:\EFI\Boot and C:\EFI\BootIt are ok. Leave them alone.

Unfortunately, C:\EFI has scrolled off the monitor. You can view earlier pages with...

DIR /p

TeraByte Support,

Is it ok for Jim to delete all Dell.xxx?

I'd use TeraByte Explorer. Is that ok?
