Can't send success/failure email via gmail

Post by badamsiosllc »

Top ‘O the morning Y’all. At least in my time zone😊

I Found a discussion here on a slightly similar topic, but my issue was not addressed.

I Configured IFW to send success/failure notifications to my gmail email via the GUI. I tested using smtp.gmail.com, my email, password, and 1st I tried port 465 w/ SSL, then tried port 587 w/ STL.

And I got the infamous “Send failure 75, socket 0x0”.

As I understand it from the other article, this means verification failed. I do not have 2 factor authentication set up but gmail doesn’t trust anyone if they get a new computer. Or phone. Or are in a different country with an international phone. You know… They gotta send you a notification asking, is this you? Yes. What’s the # on your screen?

Hopefully my punk *** teenage delinquent neighbor kid doesn't steel my phone!

I suppose I could set up an account on some insecure mail server, but that’s just something else to go wrong.

But… If that’s the case, can anyone recommend an alternative mail server?
