Question - 'changes only' with bitlocker on vs off

Post by riheco8200 »

I've done a full backup and several 'changes only' backups, always with the 'speed-up changes only' checkbox on. Bitlocker was disabled from the outset with "manage-bde -off c:". And so far the experience is great. I've enjoyed quick backups and small file sizes on the 'changes only' files. All great so far.

I'd like to active bitlocker now and wondering the behavior difference in backups? Will I continue to enjoy speedy backups and similar small file sizes on the "changes only" files? Thanks.

Hello, territorial io I think enabling BitLocker encryption may slightly impact the backup speed, especially during the initial backup. BitLocker adds an extra layer of processing, which can slow down the backup process compared to when BitLocker is disabled. However, subsequent incremental or "changes only" backups should still be relatively fast as only modified or newly added files are backed up.
