Monitor blanks during backup and won't come back

I have an oddity. Everything works fine when this machine is running Manjaro. When I boot from CD for image backup, the screen "power saves" mid backup of the first disk and I can't get it to come back to backup second or to even eject the CD, shutdown, etc.

The ViewSonic monitor is brand new. The NVS 310 is used and recently installed. I had to move this machine to a desk with a Display Port only KVM. Previous NVIDIA GT 630 Series card worked fine with Image for years.

Is this a "known issue" that buying a copy of 3.5.7 will fix? I assume it is a bundled driver issue. This card takes the 390 NVIDIA driver. The GT 630 uses the 470. I assume Image is using a "generic" driver and maybe and updated one needs to be used.

When I boot Linux "live" disks, display can "go to sleep" and wake up just fine.

The other issue it could be, and I cannot "fix" is perhaps Image is putting USB ports to sleep it thinks are idle. I ran into this with Windows 10 on this machine. It would put the USB ports to sleep when it blanked the monitor. You couldn't wake it up because both the keyboard and mouse are USB. This is from the era when we all still used PS/2. In fact, when it is not hooked up this way I use PS/2 devices on it.

Is there a way to turn off all "power saving" when booting Image? That would be a good first step in diagnosing this.

IFL doesn't have any power management enabled and I've never see a screen sleep while it's running.

The only way to get it to sleep (the entire system) is to manually set the states built-in to the kernel/acpi module.
