PMFJI, but I could not agree more. IIRC, I even offered to proof-read
it with my 'regular user' eyes. Reading the manuals poses more
questions than it answers. There are too many 'selecting the box
activates feature xyz' without telling me why I would want to or not.

On the plus side, TBH does produce some great programs. However, if I
were not unlimiting primaries, I would consider jumping ship though.

My approach is if I don't understand a parameter then it's not intended for me. Most parameters are specialized and don't apply to the majority of us. I've done many thousands of restores and I just use the default Options. The IFW manual would be approaching Encyclopaedia Britannica size if full parameter explanations were given. I don't want that.

I tell imaging newcomers to use IFW in Simple Operations mode. A few clicks to backup and a few clicks to restore. No other imaging app has this simplicity. You don't need to read many pages of the manual to confidently use Simple Operations mode.

Explanations would not add too much to the manual. If you do not
understand a parameter, how can you know that you would not find it
useful, :-) ?

DrT,

I probably have a better understanding of parameters than I indicated. Take a recent IFW parameter...

/utg

I know what this does because I've seen it in this forum. But even if I hadn't read the forum, the IFW manual says...

"Use this option to retain the existing GUID of the target partition when restoring or copying a partition and /csig is not used. For example, you may wish to update the contents of an existing partition with the contents of another partition and retain the existing GUID.
Default if omitted: The GUID of the existing target partition will be changed."

... and I certainly would have chosen the default. The defaults are meant for most of us. I know TeraByte creates special parameters for users with individual needs. I stick with the defaults.
