GPT/UEFI has a lot of issues/dependencies MBR doesn't.
And IFL run in Linux OS at this point is experienced Linux enthusiast territory. (I have only Emu droppings of Linux)

I could keep muddling through various issues due to proprietary firmware and hardware...... or get my head back to understanding the pathophysiology of intracranial hypo- and hypertension, and differential diagnosis!

No, you only use "file (direct)" if saving to unmounted partitions. If
mounted, you use "file (os)".

I just repeated the backup of the unmounted OS partition (using IFL
installed in MInt), and the generated image is still not visible in terminal
or nemo.

I presume you mean the source partition must be unmounted.....and the target
partition should be mounted, so IFL knows which folder to save the image to.

OK, I got you now....and yes, using 'file (os)' makes it visible if saving to a mounted partition.
I was trying to save to my data partition which I have no other reason to unmount.
But I presume if the target is unmounted, then there is less chance of the image file being disrupted/corrupted....and it is more likely to be saved in contiguous blocks.

Further I just worked out why I couldn't save changes to any of the settings of Mint installed IFL.
The IFL installation process gave the IFL folder root ownership.
Making me the folder owner fixed the issue.

Having what, 8 Linux distros installed, no doubt you could find a need to install it Dr Teeth!!!

For what it's worth, regarding BIU's slow "partition work" issue on the Dell 5289....(partition copy, slide, resize),
my old version of BIBM on a usb stick (legacy) doesn't have this issue.....and neither does partition copy function in IFU.

OK, my step son showed me a neat little program tonight, that probably avoids a lot of misunderstandings when messing around as we have on this thread.
It's a screen recorder:

It's called "Simple Screen Recorder" and has all the features you'd want in a screen recorder.
To get it for Ubuntu distros:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install simplescreenrecorder

Would speed up looking if you knew if it also affected ntfs or fat partition
or only linux file system.
