Instead of offering BIBM at 39.95 and BIU at 39.95 we thought it be awesome
for the customers to get both for 39.95 and could choose to use either.
So you're still getting BIU for half off. If you don't need BIU then you
stay with BIBM. However, we may stop with the upgrade discount this time
after some period instead of it being even two years after it's been
released.

Okay, here we go :-).

The price is for the collection of the two booting programs. I already
have one so the full price of the program I want is half that, viz
$19.98.

What do I pay for the collection with my 50% discount? $22.08
(converting from ? and before adding tax, which is easy to avoid ;-)).
Therefore I am paying the full price for half of the collection.

It is a bit disingenuous to refer to the price of the single items,
*especially* as it does not seem possible to buy the booting programs
singly any more.

The fact remains that the bundle is being sold for a given price,
period. Each item in the bundle is worth half the bundle price. That
is the starting point to use.

It is a great deal if somebody does not have either.

I, like many people here have BIBM. I do NOT need a second licence.
50% off a two item package when I only need one item is not a
discount. It is the way that the "discount" to current BIBM users has
been calculated that is annoying.

This is Penn and Teller finance which is of dubious legality in the
UK.

I see it differently. BIU is a new product and doesn't replace another product. The price for BIU and BIBM should have been $79.90 but TeraByte offered it for half price. People who upgrade from BIBM get the combined products for quarter price.

Never said it did.

>The price for BIU and BIBM should have been $79.90 but TeraByte offered it for half price.

That is the virtual, neverneverland accounting of which I speak.
Discounts are based on a current cost and not an historical one.

>People who upgrade from BIBM get the combined products for quarter price.

It is not an upgrade as, as you said, BIU is a new product. No amount
of slight of hand can hide the fact that the "upgrade" involves paying
for an unnecessary second licence.

Let's try a different tack on this one. Using the current pricing that
I am unhappy with, I will be paying $20 for BIU. I do not need BIBM as
I already have it. Now let's assume that the combined price is $80,
but we can buy the product we need, in my case BIU. The full price is
$40, with a 50% discount it is $20. Did you notice that the end price
is the same? THAT is the swizz.

The *only* people who will benefit from this bundle price reduction
are newcomers to the TBU fold or those that do not have either booting
product.

From an earlier TBU post, "Instead of offering BIBM at 39.95 and BIU
at 39.95 we thought it be awesome
for the customers to get both for 39.95 and could choose to use
either". Oh please, no profit making concern is altruistic. A
calculation is always made to see if a given price reduction would
stimulate enough demand to replace the profit lost by the reduction.
It's called "Elasticity of Demand".

I Look at it this way. I got a new product, and an update to the old product. What update? Well I now have one serial number to worry about! So the serial number was updated! Be happy that we finally got the product that we all have been waiting for.
TB- Keep up the good work.

That is exactly the point I made. The deal is good for people like
you. You got a new product and an update. In my case, I do NOT need
BIBM as I already have it. There is nothing to update there so NO
benefit to me and others who already have BIBM in getting a second
one.

or we could have stopped BIBM and just had the new product with choice of
UEFI or Legacy BIOS option. Then everyone would have to upgrade for
updates, but instead we did the fair thing and actually to the benefit of
the customer. That's the way it will be. Last word on the subject.

Back to the original question. Why switch? I'm going to convert my setup to UEFI so I can patch my X97 motherboard for NVME booting. More info here: https://www.win-raid.com/t871f50-Guide- ... -BIOS.html

I used that (MBR2GPT) successfully to convert my disk from MGR to GPT.

I then successfully installed BIU which process created a boot item for the instance of Win 10 on the disk. The result booted successfully to Win 10 via BIU.

At that point I realized I didn't understand how to create another boot item for another instance of Win 10 and went back to EMBR while I try to learn more about UEFI, GPT and BIU as time permits.

Bob, to create further installs of Windows or Linux is easy. Perhaps easier then BIBM. In BIU create a partition for the new OS, boot the OS install media and install into the partition you just created. BIU will create a new Boot Item. No extra partitions will be created. The booting files will be in the ESP under Microsoft.xxx or ubuntu.yyy. You will see this folder referenced in the Boot Item.

If you want to copy your Win10 partition to create an identical Win10 is even easier. Do the copy in BIU Partition Work, click Add to Boot Menu and a Boot Item will be created.
