Using a Windows7 image created by Terabyte

Post by Steven »

Greetings!

I suspected my HHD was having issues so after doing some research I decided to get TeraByte. I created an image on an external HDD and soon after my PC stop working. I just got the replacement HHD and I wanted to know if I can recreate the image on a laptop connecting both HDD drives to USB ports -I have an USB device that I can just click any HDD device for troubleshooting. I rather work on a Windows gui and skip the procedure of creating an bootable USB, bother with the BIOS... etc. If I can use the laptop, do that means that I have to install TeraByte on the laptop to set the image on the new HHD?

Your advice is greatly appreciated,

Steven

Excellent! Could you please either share a link of where I can find directions on how or just type me a sentence explaining how? Also, using the laptop means I have to install Terabyte software? I rather not install it if not necessary!

Thanks

In order to run IFW, you need something bootable.

A USB disk with IFL on it can be bootable. I hope you know where to
change the boot sequence.

Google might assist with that.

So with an IFL USB disk AND access to the image file, it should be
pretty easy over all. I have even used it with Windows 10 restores that
is more tricky than Windows 7 is.

if using windows, install it, then run it and choose to do the restore (if
you didn't use simple operations to create it, don't enable it for restore).

It's pretty self explanatory, choose the file to restore from whatever drive
letter it's on, then restore to the other hard drive you want to restore it
to.

Or you can create a boot disk of Image for Linux and use that.

Thank you Mary for the detail.... The image is from my PC and I was trying to use my laptop with the two HDDs attached to the laptop via usb (the one with the image and the new HDD) hoping I can do it with windows... this way I do not have to boot up with a USB siitck with the IFL. Do you know how to do that?
