Copy Partition minor issue

Post by DrTeeth »

Hi,

I was working in my windows 7 partition and copied my win 8.1
partition (naming it win 10). I was going to experiment updating it to
win 10 as all clean win 10 installs fail (BSOD), strange as I had once
managed to install it successfully.

I was surprised to see this partition show up as another drive after
the copy operation. What did I either do to cause this or conversely,
what should I do to stop it appearing when I next copy a partition?

Thanks in advance

When I purchased an HP AIO in Mexico, naturally it was in Spanish. A
local computer guru found Win 10 downloads online. I don't have the info
offhand but maybe Dr. Google could assist.

He got the Single Language Win 10 and it worked with no issues.
Worth a try? Not sure it includes UK English version, though!

you are limiting partitions or you have it in the mbr details of the boot
item.

Partitions are unlimited and no sign of it in the MBR details. That
being the case, it disappeared on a reboot.

The partition appeared as soon as it was created.

DrT,

I see that too. The partition copy gets a drive letter immediately after the copy process has completed. The drive letter is gone after a restart.

Phew! It is reassuring to know that it was not another senior moment.

Considering it's not in the MBR Details, that means all is working
correctly. If you want it to show up, add it to a slot in mbr details.
