Restore to new drive

Post by AlanD »

Are there any issues arising from restoring a HD to a new, out of the
box drive, as opposed to the usual restore operation of restoring to the
same drive?

My images of my C: drive are always a full disk image, which I would use
for restore. Just looking ahead to the possibility of a failed or
failing C: drive with my two partitions (I guess three partitions
counting the BootitNG partition)and two OS's on it.

My images are kept on a second (D:) drive.

I haven't bought a new hard drive in a long time, and don't know if they
come formatted, or not (presumably not), or if that matters.

No .. but there is a bug in 2.68, caused by removing a line that building
the IFL GUI version complained about, when restoring and having an EMBR
which may require "reactivate" to be needed by booting your BIBM boot disk.
