Running Windows 10.
I would like to be able to partition a GPT drive, image the OS partition (no dual booting), store images on another partition or external drive, and restore an image to the OS partition. This would have to be done from a flash drive or CD/DVD because I want to keep the hard drive a GPT type. This would take the place of a Recovery USB (although I would still have one). How do I do this?
I am thinking that BIBM could do the partitioning, although Windows might be able to. BIBM could do the imaging too, but could IFW be used?

Re: Work on a GPT Drive
You might be able to partition the drive from the OS, Windows?
I know I could do that from Win 7, no problem.

Re: Work on a GPT Drive
I prefer to keep my images on a drive separate from the OS.
Maybe both as well?

Re: Work on a GPT Drive
Bill,
An IFL flash drive will do everything you ask. It contains BIBM's Partition Work so it can create/delete partitions on your GPT drives. IFL boots in UEFI and MBR modes.

Re: Work on a GPT Drive
Is this KB article the latest for creating the flash drive media: How to create IFL boot media from the IFL Boot Disk?

Re: Work on a GPT Drive
On my own computer, I must hit F12 to go into change boot order in order
to access UEFI booting IFL on SD cards. Otherwise, that computer would
not boot straight from SD card.
It was not an option in the BIOS.
On another laptop, I do not need to do that. Just need to have the
correct info checked in the bios.
Your computer may be different.

Re: Work on a GPT Drive
Are you using makedisk.exe? It is very easy to use.
Just have your install code handy.

I will go to work on this and get back with the results.
