Credit Card Chip Readers

Post by TeraByte Support »

It's annoying that every time I have use my CC (which now has the chip) it's
in a machine where most of your numbers are exposed for a long time while
you have to sit and wait for it to complete. I mean is this the best
America and do? Slow inefficient and not very well thought out
technologies?

With normal readers, you pull, swipe, and put away in under 2 seconds; can't
these new machines cache the chip so we can insert/remove just as fast as it
was before or better come up with something even faster and more convenient?

My bank here in Mexico has an ATM that reads the card quickly and then I
pull it out. Nice way to make sure I don't forget the card, too.

The ATM hollers if the card is magnetic strip only and in the past I
needed to confirm that is what I want to do.

I had thought that card also was RFID, Maybe it wasn't. I got a new card
a short time ago and it definitely has the chip.

My new chip card from Citi has the number on the back, and it is not
embossed as on the old style cards. Thinner too.
