Awesomium 1.7.5.1

Post by mjnelson99 »

Has anyone else found this on your computer unexpectedly?

I was setting up imap with Gmail and had some issues. Probably all I had
open at the time was a Google site, both Gmail itself and instruction
pages for imap.

Then I see a file on my desktop called debug.log:

IE has some saying the program is a virus. Never heard of it till last
night.

Neither Malwarebytes or MSE found a problem. Am considering doing a
restore from 12/31/2015 to make sure it is gone. Then I would need to
set up IMAP in Gmail again.

Yesterday Google had decided not to allow POP for Thunderbird any more
even with unsecure programs checked.

It looks like it is related to Quicken.

I went into the registry and found some directly related to that
program. I found the path and it is in the Quicken folder under
Programs(x86) or whatever it is called.

Wish I knew more about what it is. It seems weird and maybe invasive?

I still do not know what the Awesomium is or does.

I did a chat with a Quicken person. It does not seem to be harmful.
Still wonder what triggered it. I have used Quicken for years with no
such debug.log triggered.

If you use Quicken, I'll bet it is there, at least for Quicken 2015
for sure.

I been using Quicken since it was on a floppy.
Am using Quicken 2016 and never saw what you experienced.
I did a search for Awesomium 1.7.5.1 in Cortana Search and only shows Search
the web.
Did search again for Awesomium and same thing.

I looked in my Quicken Folder that's in Program Files(x86) and it's not
there and I have System Files and Hidden Files set to show.
Don't know if this helps or not. Maybe it's different in Quicken 2015.

Maybe I will update to Quicken 2016. I do find it getting more and more
bloated with every change.

There was something running from Awesomium because after I deleted the
debug.log I got a message when shutting down that something related to
that was delaying the shutdown.

This morning I did a restart and there was no message re Awesomium so
getting rid of debug.log got rid of whatever was running.

I run Quicken & MS Money concurrently. I know at some point I will not
be able to use Money at all. I still like it better.

I decided to download and install Quicken 2016. I hope Awesomium is not
in it. That is the main reason I decided to update. If it is there, I
will probably not update next year. No need to do it yearly anyway.

I downloaded Quicken 2016 & installed it. It is unable to get online to
register. I had backup files already so deleted most of what this
install had done and got 2 debug.log files in trying to register.

Unintalled, rebooted, reinstalled. Converted a different file.
STILL unable to register.

There was a 55 minute wait on the Quicken site for help.

Wonder if I can get my $ back. The program seemed so sluggish in what it
was doing even before being unable to register @ Quicken.
Awesomium IS in 2016. That is what is showing in the debug.log.

There are also reports on the Quicken site that 2016 is not working
properly for bank reconciliations, either.

I will probably reinstall 2015 and hope it does better.

You should be able to get your money back for Quicken 2016.
I didn't download mine.
I got mine in a retail box at Best Buy.

On the back of the box it says:

Return the product with your dated receipt for a full refund. See
www.quicken.com/60dayguarantee for full details and instructions.

I went there and the link for: Electronically Delivered Products
(Downloads)

says:

You have 60 days from the purchase date to obtain a refund for product
downloads, product unlocks, and all other electronically delivered Intuit
products. Since there is no physical product shipped, you are not required
to send anything back to the Returns Department. Refunds for electronically
delivered Quicken products can be requested by contacting Quicken customer
service here.

Refunds for electronically delivered products through Intuit are typically
applied to your debit or credit card within 2 - 3 days.

For Quicken software downloaded from Amazon.com, uninstall Quicken and then
send an e-mail request to ereturns@intuit.com or send a written request to
Intuit Returns, PO Box 386, Greenville, SC 29334-0386. Requests need to be
received within 60 days of purchase. Attach proof of purchase, such as the
Your Order with Amazon.com confirmation e-mail. Refunds will be processed
with a paper check within 3 - 4 weeks. Please be sure your address is
current.
**************************************************************************************************************************
You can go there and click on the "here" link for refunds by contacting
Quicken customer at that "here" link.

I guess I am lucky as I have had no problems with it
