Installing bootit on windows 7

Post by chrisangus »

Hi, can someone help please, I am trying to install bootit on my windows 7 lap top, it has two partitions called
system reserved 4452 mb
mbr 1 949408 mb

and a third i made EMBR 8mb

when i try to run setup it says "this drive is not using an embr" and to use change disk type.
Do I just let it change the disk type to embr, and will everything still work?

My plan is to have multiple win7 and XP partitions

You should just let it do everything itself, delete the EMBRM partition,
then let the installer create the partition.

Keep partitions limited if you want to stay compatible with using other
things to change or create partitions.

Thanks for the reply but I tried to let it install itself but it reported it couldn't find a partition to install to, so after I watched the videos to do it manually but I'm struggling now

When you tried to do the install previously did the drive have unallocated space available so it could create the BootIt EMBRM partition? Did you try installing it again after deleting the EMBRM partition you created?

Otherwise, if doing a manual install you would need to convert the drive to EMBR, create a partition to use, and then run the setup. These steps are in the manual on pages 22-24.

Yes thanks, I deleted the partition and left it empty, after restarting it found the partition and installed ok
