Intel Z170 and lack of EHCI

Post by B00ze »

Good day.

Well I'm glad I waited before starting a new build, that new Z170 chipset is much better than Z97. However, the lack of EHCI controller has got me worried. It will make IFD unable to control USB directly...

But what about BIBM, will mouse/keyboard work with this new chipset with only xHCI USB controller?
Also, what about IFL, does it contain xHCI drivers?

Thank you,
Best Regards.

Your BIOS legacy supports is what controls the keyboard or mouse so it
doesn't matter. For storage devices, it would have to come from BIOS.

Image for Linux supports USB3 directly.
