Thunderbird

Post by Ed Smith »

I am trying to use Thunderbird instead of Windows Live Mail in Windows
10 for this newsgroup.

For Account Settings in Server Settings can someone tell me if you have
to check "Always request authentication when connecting to this Server"?

Also for Outgoing Server (SMTP) do we have to add one?

Or better yet, is there something somewhere that gives detailed setup
information on setting up the News Forum in Thunderbird ?

It seems that I am not getting all the messages. In the last 3 days have
only received 2 messages.

Thank You,
Ed.

I do not have that option checked and I do not have an SMTP server
defined. Traffic has been light lately, 2 msgs sounds right.

Thank you for the reply and I appreciate it.
Glad to know I don't have to bother checking those two items.
Good to know too that traffic has been light lately.

I am viewing and reply to you via the web base News Forum because before coming
here, I tried Thunderbird and it said the connection failed. I logged in it to see if this
and it did.

Will try tomorrow and if if Thunderbird will connect.

Thanks again,
Ed.

Make sure you click the Followup button instead of the Reply button.

OK Thunderbird is now connecting. I see no Followup button in
Thunderbird. What I did here was right click on your message and then on
Followup to Newsgroup.

OK, I now see the Followup button in Thunderbird. I was looking up at
the top in the Toolbar. Now I see when your message is opened at the top
of your message the Reply,Followup, Forward,Archive, Delete and More
buttons.

I was previously using the older Windows Live Mail and just had reply.

Thanks again for all your information and I am now good.

Ed.
