Modern computer bases and HDD light

I have just got a new computer. As with most modern cases, mine has
only one LED, it can be for power on or HDD activity and not both.

I have the components to make an HDD LED setup, but would like to know
if there is an industry-wide standard for the voltages used. I do not
want to risk my brand new kit and connect my oscilloscope to the
necessary terminals. If there is a standard, it will save the hassle
and risk of measuring the voltages. I also prefer to under drive my
LEDs to ensure a long life.

Thanks in anticipation.
