Anyone here have (and familiar with) a Dell M7510?

Post by ohaya »

Hi,

The M7510 I got came with 16GB, so I bought 4 x 16GB sticks to bring it up to 64GB.

The memory arrived today, so I tried to install the memory.

I had to remove the battery cover, remove the battery and remove what they call the bottom cover. I can see two empty memory slots, and it looks like the 16GB is probably 2x8GB sticks that are facing "down", but I don't see any way to access those memory sticks through the bottom.

So if anyone here has an Dell Precision M7510, and are familiar with the hardware, can you tell me how I get to the other 2 memory sticks?

Thanks,
Jim

Maybe you can go to the Dell web site and see the online manual for that
product.

Hi,

I've already done that. The manual only shows getting to the 2 modules that are on the bottom side. I think I found my answer though:

It looks like I'd have to remove the keyboard and maybe the palmrest in order to get to the 2 modules that are on the top side.

For the record, I was able to install all of the 64GB RAM. Here's a video I found that was quite helpful:

The two 2x16GB slots are under the keyboard, and to remove the keyboard and get to the RAM, I had to:

- remove the battery cover
- remove the battery
- remove the bottom cover
- remove the hard drive
- disconnect the 4 flat cables to the keyboard
- remove the keyboard trim
- remove the keyboard
- remove a small aluminum cover over the 2 RAM modules

Thanks,
Jim
