TeraByte Unlimited

Since Windows 10 is getting so invasive and a friend likes Mint Linux, I
am thinking about getting it. I found 3-5 versions and not sure where to
go with that.
Also not sure if I can install on a USB external hard drive.
What about Grub?

I am pretty Linux illiterate and do not want to mess up Windows when
installing.
