Quicken Online Passwords

Post by AlanD »

I was wondering if anyone has developed a workable solution for changing
your online financial institution's password, and then syncing that new
password with Quicken? Note, I do not use Quicken's password vault. For
reference, I am using 2014 Deluxe.

This has turned out to be a real problem, with Quicken, as usual, not
being helpful, esp. since they are always changing their procedures and
ground rules with each new update. Of course the FI's muddy up the water
too, with their evolving password rules.

Mary, have you been down this road?

Alan,
I do not use the password vault. My plan is to ditch Quicken entirely by
the end of this year. Not sure what you mean in your post since my bank
password is separate from that of Quicken's. Q just uses my email
address the that password I entered there.

Account Xpress has some drawbacks like duplicating entries when I pull
in a QFX file. I now watch carefully when I do. As of now it does not
mark items cleared when you do get a matching transaction. I manually
mark them cleared.

If importing as a QIF file, ALL transactions already entered will
duplicate. I tested to make sure that was correct. It is.

Otherwise, I can use that.
It will work for other currencies besides USD.

I can still use Microsoft Money with Win 7 and have been using it for
about 10 years. I read you cannot with Win 10. I did need to use
compatibility mode. Still wonder if that would work with 10?
Mary

I guess I should have been more specific.
[note I do not use the 'vault' either]
What I was alluding to was the issue of changing your PW in your FI
account, and then editing Quicken account(s). Quicken does not make it
easy to just edit your FI PW, nor does it provide any help [that I can
find].

I presume that one must first change the FI PW by logging into the FI
account, and then try to edit Quicken account to so that you can log in
successfully by Direct Connect.
