Functionality of this Forum?

Post by timg11 »

A few years ago, TBU used a usenet-type of system for the forum. Since this forum has been established, there is no longer any connection to Usenet, right?

I ask because the functionality of this forum seems to be very limited compared to most forum systems. No text formatting, no links, no images, etc.

The limits seem to be based on a "plain ASCII" type of interface. Only Smilies, which are mapped to plain text, are allowed. Now that the forum is web based, are those limits still necessary?

Right.....and no.

But consider this type forum as a style stipped down for economy.

The more mainstream fora where you get all those fancy bells & whistles
will cost their tennents more $$$

There is still a newsgroup interface. Some things are turned off due to it
being misused.

phpBB is free and has MANY bells and whistles - so much so that the
noise is deafening.
