So is the installed TB still OK?

Maybe it can't be done with copy/paste the way I described?

I looked at Accounts and is it ever messed up with TB 24.

As far as I can tell, it is only allowing one email address
per profile for storage. That seems to be true of the
Portable as well.

I have been using a global Inbox/Sent/Folders/Filters for
about 10 email addresses including Gmail with TB 17.0.3, so
that is unacceptable.

I still have TV 17.0.3 on the old computer and it is working
as it should so am using that for now.

The name of the default profile is different on this
computer as well. Will see what I can do with Portable here,
preferably an older 17 version lower than 8.

Will make sure there are no emails I really want to keep in
TB 24 and get them moved/copied from the new computer.

I hope I just did not see how to use the Global Inbox, etc.
on TB 24 but it looks bad for now.

I used the files on my old laptop with TB 17.0.3 with emails
downloaded just before I copied the files to Portable.

Ran Portable TB 17.0.3. Set up only 1 email address using
Global Inbox, etc. Installed Lightning too.

Copied all files within the Roaming profile with the most info.

It looks good for now.

Will test a bit more then copy this file to my new laptop.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I went into TB 24 and forwarded a few emails I want to keep
that were not on my laptop.

Wish I knew if it was my error that TB 24 versions do not
like lots of different email addresses or maybe a new
"feature" they added to TB 24?

It looks like TB Portable 17.0.3 will work fine for my purposes.

I find a 10 X 16 GB SD card is one of the fastest methods of
saving the file. It is slow for emails, though, so I put the
TB Portable file in My Documents on my new computer.

I use IFW and will be more faithful in imaging with TB
there. I will copy to the SD card regularly, too.

I have about ten email accounts in my TB 24.

I was unable to get it to use Local Folders for incoming
mail in both regular & Portable.

Regular TB 24 was complaining that it could not use the
store folder for all emails that TB 17.0.3 had NO problems
with.

Since the emails were saved for various accounts I have no
idea where TB was putting that info.

I may not mess with 24 any longer. Will decide later.

The latter could be more helpful. Please let me know if I can help.
The re4son I have been looking at Thunderbird is that I have started
using OpenPGP via the Gpg4win program. It looks like it would be a big
headache to change. Considering the questionable future development of
TB, I may stay put.

Can you use Local Folders in TB 24 for all accounts or does
each one have it's own Inbox, etc?
