Sorry you're having problems.
Could you check a few things please?
What version of Windows do you use?
What is your current version of IFW_Backup? does it still run OK?
Could you check the F:\IFW_Backup\IFW_Backup_Install_From\ folder
again. After running set_up option 1, it should contain 13 files, all
with the same date and time modified. (Here in New Zealand these show
27 Jan 2017 10:43am, but may be a little different in your time zone.)
When IFW_Backup_Installer.cmd ran, did it show the correct version at
the top of the first page?
Have you tried downloading the zip and running the Set_Up again from
Did you unblock the zip file?
Sorry to bombard you with all these questions, but I'm puzzled as to
what has happened.
You could reply to the email address in the Read_Me_First file for
And, thanks for the comprehensive diagnostic information you provided.

Tom kindly helped me sort this out. In my case, another program had added a folder to the path which contained its own find.exe program and so Tom's script was trying to use that instead of the default microsoft find.exe.

Just to clarify, there is now a new address in the first post in this thread, for the IFW_Backup script.

24-Apr-2017 Vn 4.12 - Bug fixes.
- The setup program will now show an error message if it is unable
to unpack the new files into the IFW_Backup_Install_From folder.
Restricted permissions on the installation folder can cause this.
- Added a section to the IFW_BAckup_Read_Me_First.txt file on how to
give suitable permissions to the installation folder, if needed.
- Fixed the initial default Image_for_Windows installation folder in
the IFW_Env.cmd file.
See the first post for download instructions.

I run IFW Backup from TBWinPE. I recently upgraded to a larger backup drive and have changed "set sm=1" to "set sm=2" for one of my IFW_Env.cmd files. Looking through the control files, I see that Data.cmd has "sm=1" for that profile so I assume I should change that manually to "sm=2" as well, is that correct? Is there anything else I should change? I read the documentation for "Maintain Control Files" but didn't see anything there related to changing the minimum number of backups.
Thanks for your help.

The Data.cmd file is used and updated internally by the package and
shouldn't normally be changed by the user.
The next time you run the package (either for a normal backup, or to
just show the Options menu only) the Data.cmd file will be updated
automatically with the new "set sm=2" value for the particular backup
If you have changed the "set sm=" entry in a number of different
IFW_Env.cmd files, then as these different backups are done, the
Data.cmd file will be updated, making the new value available for
reference to the other backups.
Alternately, to update all the "set sm=" entries in the Data.cmd file
straight away without doing backups, you can run the "IFW Backup -
Options" shortcut, and then select the Quit option from the menu, for
each different backup in turn.
