What is the difference between the cpu fan and the case cooling fan? The fan in my acer desktop is running loud and constant. I need to fix this. How do i know if it is the case cooling fan or the cpu fan? What is the difference and how dopi identify them?

CPU fan is small fan located directly on top of CPU on the motherboard or
main board. A case fan is a large fan located/attached directly to your
case, usually in the back below the power supply or where the power plug is
located/plugged in, but it may be on the top or in front. The case fan is
located over a grill with openings for air to pass. Open case, look around
and the 2 fans should be apparent. It is usually fairly easy to locate the
noise. You can place your finger over the MIDDLE of the case fan blade [not
on the blades themselves] and press down enough to momentarily stop it and
see if that stops the noise. If so, that fan is the problem, assuming both
fans are not noisy. If it is your CPU fan, I suggest you replace it as the
bearings are going bad and if the fan stops, your computer will cease to
function and you may damage the CPU. Good idea to replace any noisy fan,
both for the good of the computer and your sanity.

The power supply probably also has a fan that could be
getting noisy. I know I needed to replace one on my desktop.
You might be able to put your ear near the power plug on the
rear of the case and hear if there is excess noise.
