Resize logical partition on Restore Issue

Post by ronk »

Related to earlier post. Migrating logical data partitions from laptop A (XP) to laptop B (Win7), with a resize. On laptop B, resized C with PartWizard 7.5, then created logical partitions with larger size (20gb vs. 13gb on laptop A) in the unallocated space. Then, used IFW (same results with IFL) to restore individual partition backups from laptop A to laptop B, with a resize to max. Well, Win7 disk management sees the restored partitions, but PartWizard 7.5 only sees the logical partition area as now one large unallocated space (C Drive is OK). Any idea what parms I have to set on restore so that PartWizard sees them? I am uncomfortable using BIBM partition work at this time. How to I restore and match the empty partitions created by PW? Folks seem to have good results with PW but there is an alignment issue or something going on here. :?

I'd suggest using something known to work properly like BootIt Partition
Work.

Thanks, but until I'm confortable with BIBM , since the partitions were not that large, I did instead a TBImount of my IFL backup and then Teracopy of partition contents to newly created W7 partitions (created by PW7.5). Has to be something with the resize matchup between IFW restore/resize and PW parms. All good now, since was able to backup and restore one of the new increased size partitions successfully with Terabyte IFW.

I promise, will learn BIBM.

Thanks for at least reading, still somewhat a mystery though. PW has very few detractors at least with a google search and read.

IFW is also an excellent product. I use it almost
exclusively when imaging.

BIBM will take a little more learning.

Just curious...why 'almost' exclusively?

Once in a while, I will use IFL or IFD.
IFW is so much easier to run though.
