Hi Folks,
I'm discovering that I've got to restore an image (windows 7 boot partition) to repair some "issues" with another program's install that went bad...
{sigh}
Since we're dealing with images here I know I can't just "restore" the windows directory tree, but does anyone know of a program that will let me copy the files from an image over the ones in that directory tree? Perhaps mounting the image as a drive and then copying the files over the existing ones?
Thanks,
John

If you did a full install of IfW, you should have them already. They
are TBImount and TBIView. I would be wary if just restoring a folder
in the manner you suggest unless you are 110% sure that the install
did nothing elsewhere - a very unusual situation with Windows
programs. Have you tried system restore?

Re: Restore Question
I'm not sure I understand why you want to copy files from a saved image. Why don't you just restore the saved image to your hard drive? That's probably much easier and will guarantee that your computer is restored to an earlier state when everything was workiing well. However, the first thing I would do is try a system restore as recommended by Dr. T.

Re: Restore Question
You could boot to Image for Linux, mount the windows partition and use
tbiview to extract the folder or the same thing using an Image for Windows
boot disk (http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/howto/) ... Basically you can
use tbimount or tbiview to copy files but the target files can't be in use,
also for tbiview permissions will be set to the defaults for that folder
they are being copied to, tbimount would use whatever program you use to
copy the files which may copy permissions as well.
