Multiple Fie Sets

Post by TAC109 »

I've been testing out the 'multiple file set' option in IFW when run
from the command prompt, using the parameter /mf.

Creation of a full backup works as expected.

However, my attempt to create a differential backup resulted in a
prompt for the full backup file. The message was

'Insert media 1 containing file
f:\Tom's Utility Backup\2012-05-31@1042.56_Full.TBI'

It seems that IFW doesn't append the '_1' etc to the full file name so
that it can find the correct full backup file, when doing a diff
backup using the parameter /mf.

Is this a bug?

The multiple file set essentially is making each partition its own backup
file. You'd then treat them as such (individual files). It's not going to
look for _0 and _1, you'd have to provide it individually.
