Image for Linux disks

Hi,

What is the difference between the IfL disk that I can make with the
IfW download and in included, ready-made ISO iflnet.iso? They both
seem to support networking.

So why is it included and one for IfD is not. Seems surplus to
requirements.

The IFL folder created from the IFW download contains less files than the standalone IFL download. I always download the standalone IFL.

I use the one created from IfW. never used the included ISO, always
make one from fresh, esp as I want restored to be aligned on 2048
boundaries (the default is not IIRC). The version I make works 110%
AFAICT.

The plot thickens...

When you install the IFW/IFD/IFL pacakge in Windows, and then use MakeDisk to create an IFL boot disk, it uses the copy of iflnet.iso in the IFL folder to create that boot disk. That copy of iflnet.iso is the same as the one included in the stand-alone IFL zip file.

DrTeeth,

I'd been wondering about it too.
Good answer by 'TP'.

Fwiw; Whenever a new build is released I download all for which I'm
licensed, rename, and store on a spare drive as well as my main PC.
Never know when my main PC might be down & no web access.

I put the version number into the file name to know which is newest on
my storage drives. Easy to rename any file for d/l in FireFox.

Ifw_ifl_en_setup.exe (becomes) ifw_ifl_en_setup_268.exe

Can someone check my observation?

I haven't looked recently but the IFL folder that was part of the IFW download contained less files than the standalone IFL download. I think it was "Help" files that were missing.

I just checked and these are missing...

Help folder containing 17 files
config.zip
OS-Lic.zip
quickstart.txt
readme.txt
setup
