I have a Dell 7480 notebook with Ubuntu 20.04.
I'm trying to clone it with IFL 3.40 to another identical Dell 7480 notebook
The target system report "no bootable devices found" after the image is restored.

Image creation:
I booted to IFL from USB on the original system and saved an image to a network drive.
Backup / Full Backup / backup from internal SSD sda / check Entire Drive all partitions (MBR0, MBR1, ext 2/3/4 / Single File Set / File (OS) / (/mnt1/share...) / Validate / Start

Image restore:
I booted to IFL from USB on the target system and restored the image from the network drive.
Restore / Normal / File OS / check Entire Drive / Restore to Linux / internal SSD (sda) / Options - add checkbox for Write standard MBR

I've verified the MBR0 partitiion is set active in Partition Work
What did I miss?

First, you probably don't want write standard mbr since grub may be in the mbr. Next, ensure the system booting in same mode (MBR/Legacy and not UEFI).

I observed that partition work shows MBR0 for the working system as
C 4 H 4 S 1

while the MBR0 on the unbootable system is
C 0 H 32 S 33

I'll double check the BIOS settings and try again without write standard MBR.

The source and target system are both set for UEFI and Secure Boot is off.
It is able to boot off the IFL USB boot disk with UEFI.

So it is booting in the same mode. Are you saying that for an IFL image to boot, the system must be in MBR/Legacy?

Or do I need to do the clone with IFU?

I was able to get it to boot after setting the BIOS options
Enable Legacy ROM
Enable Attempt Legacy Boot

So I conclude although the source system and IFL can boot with UEFI enabled, an image restored with IFL must use legacy.

You shouldn't need any Legacy options. My computers have CSM disabled so there are no Legacy options and Windows/Linux Restores and Copies with IFL are successful.

If they were named MBR, you're using legacy mode not a GPT in UEFI mode, that's why you need to enable CSM.
