IFL - Enable Trackpad in Dell notebook?

Post by timg11 »

When booting IFL 3.42 from a USB drive on a Dell 7480 notebook, the trackpad does not function as a mouse.
I can plug in a wired mouse, but would prefer to have it work with the trackpad. Is that possible with a BIOS setting or a option setting in Makedisk?

trackpads should be enabled in the kernel but the x environment may not support it. Using the keyboard is an option some don't know about, you can use the windows key on the keyboard to bring up a list of all the items you can run. Within the program of course you have hot keys and tabs/enter/escape.

I'd still like to solve this issue since the complexity of working with this machines is higher than expected I'm booting into IFL frequently. It would be helpful to have a working touchpad. I've been through all the BIOS settings and don't see anything related to trackpad/touchpad compatibility. The trackpad works fine in the UEFI BIOS, but not in IFL. I'd like to solve it by editing Makedisk if possible.

Here are some threads I've found on the subject:

I tried cat /proc/bus/input/devices from the terminal in IFL3.43, but don't see anything like "touchpad" or "trackpad"

Based on this article <https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-u ... -issue-fix> I tried
xinput list

but that command is not found in IFL
