I was using IFD to back up a partition on my laptop to an external USB drive. But I forgot to plug the laptop into the power and it ran out of battery in the middle of the backup.
Now there is an undeleteable TIB file on my external USB drive. This file is 0 bytes according to windows. But it has to be over 20GB because I had at least 30GB free at the time of the backup and now there is about 10GB free. So something is screwed up there now. Can anything be done to fix it?
I've already tried rebooting windows, unplugging the usb drive, and even plugging it into an completely different computer but there is always that 0 byte undeleteable TIB file and there is at least 20GB of space missing.
The damn laptop ran out of battery at like 95% done. Such bad timing... hope this can be fixed. Thanks!

Hiro,

Login to Windows as 'administrator' then right-click that file, and
select 'Take ownership of this file'. Now (as 'administrator') it
should be deleteable.
Exactly which version of Windows are you running?
WinXP, Vista, Win 7??

Re: problem with USB drive after an incomplete backup
you can run "chkdsk /f" to fix any problems, then delete the file (taking
ownership if needed as the other poster mentioned).

Re: problem with USB drive after an incomplete backup
Thanks for the help guys!
"chkdsk /f" did the trick. Also got my free space back!
