Recreating MBR on Windows 7 restore

Hi,
I need to restore a full drive image to recover a Windows 7 machine from a virus and I have the following questions :-
1) Will IFL restore the entire drive from the backup, including MBR etc or do I need to force this with command line options. The manual states
Image for Linux will only install the standard master boot code when it appears that there is no existing boot code. The original backup was a full drive backup.
2) The reason for asking question 1 is that the the backup was taken with an older version of IFL (before the W7MBR option was created). If I need to force IFL to recreate a clean MBR, will the latest IFL version be able to handle a Windows 7 backup taken with an old IFL version ?
I want to be certain that there is no trace of the virus left. I'm considering using a hard disk wipe program but I'm guessing that is not necessary - will IFL replace all executable code with the backup image ?
Thanks
