I recently made a fresh backup of a Win XP hard drive. I did some tinkering with the software on that disk because i made the image of it since i knew i can restore to a known good starting point if i was to mess something up with my work.
I ended up having to format my drive and now i wanted to restore the backup that I made yesterday.
Upon trying to restore the image, it asks:
1.Automatic
OR
2. Normal
Which one would i choose??
The next screen if i chose to go with NORMAL, I am presented with a bunch of variables.
Should i be choosing (im putting this image that I want to restore on the same exact hard drive that i made the image from just hours ago):
-Set Active
-update boot.ini
-update boot partition
-write standard MBR code
-restore disk signature
-restore first track
-change guid
-move to original MBR entry
-assume original hard drive
-change volume SN
Is it better to choose the option of AUTOMATIC?
If anyone here can answer what i should check off to do this restore, it would be VERY much appreciated. Also, Can you maybe explain why I wouldn't check off something as well?

Re: Restoring Win XP Image
Probably not a really good answer, but I'm pretty sure I just leave the defaults.

Yes, That's what I always use.

I always try "normal" first as I like to play with the options. If I
balls it up, I can always try auto afterwards.
