TBIMount vs TBIHD

Post by Muad'Dib »

On page 21 of the most recent (2019-04-23) IFW manual it says:
"You can also select to install TBIMount, which allows mounting of .TBI image files to drive letters, and TBIHD, which loads a .TBI file as a hard drive."

(This is the ONLY time TBIHD is mentioned in the entire manual.)

Would you please explain the difference in how these the two applications work?
And (if the above explanation doesn't clarify) what is the reason to run one of these programs over the other (advantages and disadvantages of each)?

TBIHD will mount the image as a physical drive with all partitions, which will show up in Disk Management, IFW, etc. It can be modified and reimaged, for example. TBIMount shows only as a drive letter and for only one partition.

Is TBIHD only available under newer OS versions? I was installing IFW v3.30 on an XP (32 bit) machine (previous installed version was 3.24), and the TBIHD option was not shown. If this is not a bug, could you say what the minimum requirements are for TBIHD (or point me to a URL/KB article that says this)?
