Backuping disk sector by sector why? Monted with Diskcriptor

Post by qweewert »

I trie to backup disk C: wich i previosly encripted with diskcriptor and MONUNTED it in WINPE before starting backup.
Before disk was encrypted the backup proces was normal. And size of backup was around 4gb!!!!

After encription with diskcryptor I mount partition in winPE.
When i tries with Terabyte copy it copy bite to byte and backup size is 20 gb!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In other program doing the same thing there was NO problem and backap is copying normal with compresion....!!!!!!!!!!!
With norton Ghost backup disk compresed from real size 20gb to 5 gb.
And wint acronis to 3 gb.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why, and how to avoit it?

sorry for my english

thanks

I'm not familiar with Diskcryptor, but did you try using the "Read from Volume" option when creating the backup?

what's the ifw.log say?

what does "information" show when highlighting the partition?

What file system does it show in the partition list?

Just a thought:
Sector by sector backup will backup the entire disk data, both used and unused portions of the disk. I do not believe that ghost or acronis do sector by sector backups. Image can do both types, Sector by sector OR just the used sectors. Your title suggest sector by sector, so you should expect the backup size to be large.
Try turning off the Simple Operation Mode option.
