Command line procedure to restore full + last differential?

Postby Fabvit » Tue Dec 11, 2018 6:34 am

I have a full backup and several differential backups.

What command line options I have to use in order to perform a DIFFERENTIAL restore from that full backup + the very last differential one?

In other words: what is the correct procedure to restore from full backup and the last differential one (via command line)?

I don't think I've ever used a command line to restore, so I'm not completely comfortable providing a command line.

If the proper command to restore a full backup is known, just use the same one except specify the differential backup rather than the full backup as the one to restore from. At least if the backups are in the same folder, IFW will use the differential backup to find the full backup and use them both to perform the restore.

If more help is needed the GUI can be used as if one were going to restore until an opportunity to "Show Command" is available. If that is clicked, the proper command will be shown and the GUI operation can be canceled. Again, the differential should be selected as the drive or partitions(s) to restore when stepping through the GUI.
