Booting to IFL from USB hangs after 'Loading initrmfs.gz...'

Post by bernd.el.pan »

I am trying to boot IFL v3.24 in UEFI mode from an USB flash drive that has been created from IFW using 'IFL-Create Recovery Boot Disk'.
After echoing 'Loading vmlinuz...' and 'Loading initrmfs.gz...' the screen goes black (not completely blank, background LED still on) and flash drive LED stops flashing.
Looks similar to the issue from https://www.terabyteunlimited.com/kb/article.php?id=617 but adding 'acpi=off' to the end of the appropriate line as described does not help.
My system is a Lenovo ideapad 720s with Intel i7-8550U running W10 x64 pro with UEFI and Secure Boot enabled.
Image for UEFI boots fine so I guess it is not a Secure Boot related issue. The problem persists after disabling Secure Boot.
Anyone else having this problem?

Sounds like you need the x64 version of the IFL boot disk.

You can get that through the download portal:

Works fine now with x64 IFL boot disk version - also had to update the BIOS to the very latest one.
Thanks alot!
