"Restore First Track" vs "Update Boot Partition"

When restoring partition to the same (original) HDD, does option "Restore First Track" subsume option "Update Boot Partition"?
In other words, Will "Restoring first track" result in updating boot partition as well ?
I assume it always safe to use "Restore First Track" if restoring the same (original) HDD to its earlier state (backed up earlier).
