A curiosity...

After a restore, Chase bank prompts that they "do not recognize the computer being used."
Where do they hide the info that is not a part of the IFW restore?

I have had Paypal also question my computer when there has been a longer
power failure. I get a URL that changes then.

You may need to call them to clear it?

I get the same thing with Chase Bank without doing a restore. It is because
I deleted my cookies. As long as I don't delete them, it's fine. When I do
delete them, I get the message. Don't know if this will help or not.

How old was the restored image? Could be a cookie with a short
validity. There is no place to hide from a restore as it gets your
disk to *exactly* the state that it was.

Thanks folks. Doesn't make any difference how old the image is...sometimes weeks, sometimes days. Chase still requests validation.

Chase cookies haven't been cleared and should return just as they were when the image was created. Don't believe that this is a cookie issue...if their cookies are cleared, it prompts for a manual log in.

But the message seen after a restore is very different. It reads "we don't recognize your computer." User has the option of providing a mail, text or phone number to which they send a temporary ID (not password).

The separate check is what my bank & Paypal did.

Try to do a restore keeping the disk Id.

Nothing in settings lists "keep disk ID" but two items reference the ID...
"output disk ID to command line" and "prefer target disk ID on change."

Right, the option is called "Restore disk signature".
