What is IFU

Just out of curiosity, what is IFU and what is it supposed to do?

Again, just out of curiosity, I created IFU boot media. All I get when I boot it is a blank screen with a non-blinking cursor in the upper left corner.

Tried Google, all I came up with is UEFI is the cause. Showed a thread here where the guy asked repeatedly for an explanation, but got everything but, it seems.

Only think that fits is Image For Unix, but that's just a WAG.

It's Image for UEFI (like IFD CUI, but in UEFI). Most UEFI systems are not currently complete or stable enough to support it, though. The booting issue could be the BIOS not supporting it or you may need to try a different USB Layout option for the boot media.

Bob, that's what I see too. I've tried it in about ten computers. It worked in one.

most name brand systems seem to work, it's the mobo's that hit or miss (even
the same manufacture).

So is the intended purpose to be an IFD replacement that boots in UEFI mode because IFD does not?
