IFU on Dell XPS 13 Touch Model 9360

I backed up using IFW to a USB drive. To test restore I made an IFU USB restore stick & booted it. Booted Ok but the DOS style screen was extremely tiny, about 0.5" x 0.5" .... so small that I could not read the menu choices and had to shut it down. The XPS 9360 has a very high resolution screen.

Is there a way to get a larger IFU menu?

Thanks in advance.

No, not currently, IFU uses the native resolution of that environment. I
doubt there is an option to adjust resolution in the bios, but you can look.

Cyclobiker,

I checked my notes regarding my son's XPS. IFU booted to a usable screen. Not small as you saw. We tried test backups but the computer kept restarting when ICU reached the 10% backup mark.

TBWinRE works fine as long as you build TBWinRE in the XPS.

Thanks Brian! I will build a TBWinRE disk on the XPS, it is too useful to go without.

The previous message mentioned the build process uses the native resolution. The USB I tested on the XPS was made on a another lower res machine. I rebuilt it on the XPS. The menus were tiny but I got it to work. The only issue was that IFU make would not write to the USB stick until I used diskpart and after confirming the USB drive was the target ran the clean command and then all went well.

Cheers!

Ok. I downloaded V3.06 and followed the tutorial on how to make a TBWInRE boot USB:
http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/howto/ ... torial.htm

As suggested I made the TBWinRE restore stick from an IFW installation on the same computer I want to run TBWinRE on.

The USB booted fine and IFW ran just fine. I "tested" restoration on a backup I had made on IFW from within Windows ... up to the warning that all data would be erased but no further ... so I believe restoration will work. Right now TBWinRE is mid-way through a backup.

I believe TBWinRE is the best solution for the Dell XPS. Nice work. I am glad to have my old trusted imaging tools back again, I have relied TerraByte Unlimited products since version 1.xx. And support has always been good.

The DELL XPS 9360 is the first that refused to restore ... until I tried TBWinRE.

Thanks!

With your non x64 IFL, can you see the partitions while using RAID mode in the BIOS? We couldn't get non x64 IFL to load into IFL. We couldn't see the partitions until we changed RAID to AHCI.
