Problem with serials

It is an arithmetic law that in this forum somebody must be the most stupid and I don't feel any complex at this subject :)

I use the backup tool since many years and I decided one hour ago to buy the last version as prophylaxis against a TeraByte Unlimited Bankruptcy.

I assumed be buying mainly the DOS / Linux version. Then I got by mail a serial for Drive Image Backup and Restore Suite and another one for Bare Metal. After downloading the stuff II opened the Drive Image package and I found among other material also the IFD and IFL folders. Windows asks me for a serial and I think I have it but DOS (what I really use) simply complains the absence of IFD.DAT. How can I satisfy the hunger for serial numbers by Madam DOS Image? Do I need purchasing a further serial?

Thanks for your patience!

To make sure we're not confusing terminology, by "serial number", I assume you are referring to what I know as a "key". If you got IFD and IFL as part of the Drive Image Backup and Restore Suite, you use the same key for everything.

Beyond that, it's not clear to me where you're being asked for IFD.DAT. Have you used the installation file to create IFD bootable media (CD or USB stick)?

if you're going to copy files, ensure you copy all the files, otherwise use
makedisk.

ifd.dat is required for the gui version.

Yes, I see ifd.dat in the ifd folder. Let me boot DOS again and see.

- I got 2 files to download:
1) terabyte_drive_image_backup_and_restore_suite_en_setups.zip
2) bootitbm_en.zip

- I extracted everything from the first one getting:
1a) terabyte_drive_image_backup_and_restore_suite_en_gui.exe
2)a terabyte_drive_image_backup_and_restore_suite_en_cui.exe

- I was working in Linux, so I installed terabyte_drive_image_backup_and_restore_suite_en_gui.exe under wine.
- I klicked on "imagew.exe" getting a dialog asking for Name and Key.
- I didn't continue, I copied instead the folder IFD to a DOS partition where resides the old
IFD version, I renamed the added folder "IFD2017".
- booted the DOS partition, same configuration like for the old IFD version.
- I started C:\IFD2017\image.exe and I got a message about missing IFD.DAT
- IFD.DAT is not present in "drive_c/Program Files (x86)/TeraByte Drive Image Backup and Restore Suite/IFD/"

Time to start a real Windows and check again there...
Thank you for the moment.

Well, like expected, the windows version seams to work, however I didn't really check so much.
In the DOS version IFD.DAT is clearly absent, if you like, as evidence I can upload "terabyte_drive_image_backup_and_restore_suite_en_setups.zip", intact.
If I am not wrong you advised to burn the ISO getting from there the missing file. On this way I get an ISO containing only one file: contents.txt, 93 B, quite modest for TeraByte illimited.
Furthermore you are right, I am not good in extracting files, For this reason I have and use a variety of extracting software, In case we could pursue them...
Finally seriously, I use computer software for working purposes and on the moment I have no time to spend in experiments. If this story is an invite to buy additionally something just tell me please, I will pay and we will all be happy.
Thanks a lot

If you need the IFD GUI files for DOS you should download that ZIP file from your account (ifd_en_gui.zip) instead of the Windows installer.
