I have an entire drive image backup of the SSD in my Win8.1 laptop that I did using IFL ver 2.99. That SSD has a System Reserved, C system, and D data partitions.
Today I wanted to restore only the C partition but not the D partition. My steps using IFL ver 2.99 were:
1. Checked partitions 1 & 2 ("System Reserved" and C partitions). Did not check partition-3 (D data partition). When continuing the setup, IFL had an error message about the target drive. Unfortunately I did not write the message down.
2. So I went back and checked only partition-2 (C partition) and now IFL continued and I got the options screen. Searching this website I found a forum reply by TeraByte support that when restoring one partition from a multiple partition drive, "Update boot partition" should be checked. So I checked that but there's also a "Update BOOT.INI" option. Not sure, I checked that too and did the restore. The laptop boots up fine and seems normal so far.
I have two questions:
Q1: Should checking partitions 1 & 2 have worked in step-1 above? Or can IFL only restore one partition at a time if restoring from a multi-partition entire drive image backup (aside from an entire drive restore)?
Q2: Was it correct to check options a)"Update boot partition" and b)"Update BOOT.INI"? Or should I have only checked "Update boot partition"?
Thanks for your help,

Re: Options when restoring C partition only
Q1: Most likely, the error was that there were already partitions in the destination area and they weren't exactly the same as those in the backup.
Q2: "Update BOOT.INI" wasn't necessary, but no need to redo anything.
