Per your recommendation I am trying to check that fastboot is disabled. The posted instructions are:
1) Open Control Panel.
2) Choose Hardware and Sound -> Power Options
3) Click on "Choose what the power button does" on left.
4) Click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable".
5) Remove the check mark from the "Turn on fast startup (recommended)" under Shutdown settings.

However there is no "Turn on fast startup" option on the page. I just got the anniversary update. Is there a possibility that it removed or changed the location of this option?

When starting my PC, TBInotify flashes a notification (warning) that Fast startup is enabled, is this what this thread is about and if so, can someone explain why the warning and that enabling fast startup is not good?

As per the comment above, I believe that fast boot or startup is enabled in your UEFI setup. Correct me if I am wrong.

Fast Startup is enabled by default. Additionally, Windows updates/upgrades will enable it even if you have it turned off. This can unexpectedly put you in a situation where corruption and/or data loss can occur. The warning can be disabled in TBI Notify's settings if you don't want to see it.

There is a post at http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/ucf/vi ... f=4&t=2280 that says if you don't see a Fast Startup option, you may have to turn on hibernation in order to do so.

Is Fastboot an issue for IFW for images created while Windows is running using VSS or PHYlock? Or does it only affect IFW/IFL running in pre-boot environment after a non-full shutdown?

the fastboot issue has to do with windows in general. we're just warning
you about it.

Maybe I don't understand. Assuming PHYlock or VSS are working properly and enabling IFW to create a clean image while Windows is running, how would Fastboot affect that? I understand that if the system is shutdown with fastboot enabled, certain aspects of the file system are not "clean" and imaging the drive in that state can cause problems.
What is the risk or failure mechanism for running an IFW image from a running Windows system with Fastboot enabled?

Terabyte support has simply provided an "fyi" warning that if multiple OSs with fastboot enabled have access to the same drive/partition, that drive/partition may suffer corruption. This warning has nothing to do with imaging or Terabyte products themselves. See post in this thread by Terabyte Support on 15 August 2016.

So a system that has only Windows 10 installed on the partition, and is imaged only from IFW while windows is running (with VSS or PHYLOCK) would be safe from corruption even with Fastboot?

If you read the topic 'Windows 8 and 10 corruption' in at the top of all the forums you'll see that a restore could lead to a corrupted partition if fastboot is not turned off.
