I have given up trying to restore a win7 image to different hardware with RAID1.
Instead I am trying the same procedure but this time i'm using a winXP image.

1. WinXP Image gets restored, then I remove all drivers and install the intel raid driver version v8.9, the folder that has the drivers include the following files:
iaahci.cat
iaAHCI.inf
iastor.cat
iaStor.inf
IaStor.sys

2. I install iaStor.inf and iaAHCI.inf, using "critical driver" and "filter hardware" options.

3. Rebooted the machine and all I see is a flashing white dash on the left top corner of the screen.

Any ideas, please?

If you haven't already, try using the "Write Standard MBR Code" when restoring or do an MBR repair. Make sure the correct partition is set active and make sure the BIOS booting order is correct after the restore and before booting (some will change the order when they detect drive changes).

On some systems, it can be helpful to wipe the drives first so they appear unknown to the BIOS/system. Usually, it's enough to just wipe the first (and sometimes last) several MBs of space.

What brand/model system is it? Have you checked if there is a BIOS update available?
